First, the summary. Otomeido has seen no progress since my last update. Chichi Miko!! is 65% edited and if image editing goes well, is on track for June 14th release. Otomeido release might get pushed back because I overestimated how much I could consistently get done each day.
Now, to go more in depth. At the beginning of this week I was really pushing myself to hit quotas, and between that and constantly getting distracted by non-porn things, I found myself angry and frustrated with myself at my lack of progress after I finished Tsukasa’s bad end and started on his good end. I’ve always felt that I could tell when a translator loved what he’s translating, and when he hates it and is just doing it to get it done, and I don’t want to be the second kind of translator. So on Wednesday I threw out everything I’d done on Tuesday and decided to take a break for a couple days. Not just a break from translating, but a break from everything, family crap, friend crap, translating, all of it. I went something like 20 days straight without an hour to myself, and I finally noticed that it was making me produce shitty work.
So I took two days off, Wednesday and Thursday, and did basically nothing but read the To Aru Majutsu no Index LN. (The earlier volumes of which needed one more editing pass, in my opinion, but were still plenty enjoyable. Buy the official English release when it comes out!) I got through something like five volumes, and it really helped me mellow out. On Friday I was honest with myself and found that I still wasn’t ready to give Otomeido the excellent translation it deserves, so I started editing Chichi Miko!! again. I finished Renka’s (mother) and Momoka’s (aunt) routes, and got halfway through Rinka’s route today. Rinka’s so lovely! She actually wound up being my favorite girl out of all of them, thanks to how well her route was written, even though all the other heroines’ characters hit my buttons better. Too moe.
Sunday I’m going to deal with more family stuff, so I won’t get more work done, and I’ll probably be wiped out by the end of the day, so I think I’m going to spend the next week polishing the Chichi Miko!! releases and getting them ready for June 14th. Sadly because of that, I highly doubt I’ll finish Otomeido by June 16th like I’d planned. The release could be pushed back by as much as two weeks, depending on what happens in the rest of June. I hope everyone can forgive me for the delay, but I’d rather put out a quality release than rush to put out something mediocre. Trap fans deserve better than that.
